So we’ve launched a new contest here at Vinyl Vlog with the help of our friends at When’s Lunch Records. We have a ONE OF FIVE Test Press LP from Pulleys most recent release Time-Insentive Material. Besides the tunes on the record the coolest part of this release is that both sides contain the SAME SONG! One side is 33 1/3 RPM and the other is 45 RPM. Clearly a must have for any record collection.
Well it’s that time of the year…and NO I’m not going to bore you with another top 10 list. Really what’s the point? Do you really care what I think the best record of ’09 was? I doubt it…
Anyways, The Dopamines were just in town and let’s just say we got just a little drunk. They put a small dent into future episode progress but oh well…new episodes in the new year sound good?

This is Matt, I am new here. Get acquainted with me, I might be here a while. Welcome to the first of many posts that we intend to help you stay informed on Vinyl Vlog happenings, maybe on a weekly basis? The kinks have yet to be worked out, so we will keep you posted. What does this mean for Vinyl Vlog, you ask? We are going to be providing you with a plethora of information regarding your favorite bands and labels, new releases, re-releases, second pressings, interviews, live footage, and maybe even some photos.
I recently had the chance to sit down and film the newest episode with my cohort Joshua. We posted a new interview with Vinnie from LTJ and P+P, so be sure to check that out. This is a new interview we did with Vinnnie about a year or so after our first convo.
In other news, last week I had the chance to sit down with Larry from Pelican and Rafa from Black Cobra. We will be posting a TEXT version of the Pelican interview and a normal Vinyl Vlog episode with Black Cobra. The Black Cobra interview was done by my buddy Dave, who you may see from time to time. A lot of exciting things going on in the world of Southern Lord, Pelican, and Black Cobra, and we have all the info ready for your viewing pleasure. WE MAY ALSO HAVE A BIG CONTEST COMING UP INVOLVING BOTH OF THESE BANDS SO STAY TUNED.

Yes, yes, and maybe? We are going to be broadening our scope of music here as well. Joshua and I got together for the love of music and wax. We grew up listening to all the same bands and buying the same records. At the same time, we have a love for a variety of different styles of music as our old age grows upon us. We are looking for new viewers, new bands, and more content. Upcoming segments may include labels Bridge 9, some more Southern Lord, Magic Bullet, Polyvinyl, Suicide Squeeze, and more of your favorite bands we already cover. I think Henry Rollins is coming to Boston soon? Does he like vinyl? Let’s find out!

Two weeks ago Less Than Jake stopped in Boston for a show and let me tell you, in 1998 I saw them for the first time with All, Snuff, Discount and they were amazing. 10 years later I just saw them again and sure enough…still simply amazing! Do yourself a favor and check them out while they are on tour!

It’s Thanksgiving night and I found out we got a SICK COUPON code for the new Anchorless Records store. (you should remember anchorless as they released the Johnny Cash Tribute album!)
Just an FYI since our most recent episode is pretty VINYL light. In the near future we are going to be releasing episodes with Broadway Calls, Vinnie from Less Than Jake/Paper + Plastic(Round Two) and Larry David!
